There is something oddly peaceful about drawing Kouryou and clouds.
I'm actually going to dedicate this picture to someone.. My cat, Topaz.
You see, Topaz is sixteen years old and we have been together since he was four and I was eight. He's the closest friend I've ever had in the real world, the only one to grow more caring in time rather then break away for things more "popular" and not Fantasy related.
And, since he is very old, he is dieing. He's not eatting properly, and having trouble walking now without running out of breath or staying upright. He spends most of his time curled up on the floor because the beds are too high for him to jump for a nap.
But, in his old age, he seems to be reaching a sense of zen. He's calm, more affectionate they usual, and patient, things he wasn't before his health started to faulter. And so, he's gaining a form of enlightenment, and is healed.
And he seems to care more about how his body failing is hurting me then for his own weakness. Mortal Compassion is what Kouryou is about (And not Passion of the carnal kind, if any of you are dirty minded) and despite being sweet, Kouryou has that sarcasm as I could always seem to imagine coming from Topaz.
So, I put my feelings for my cat into my dragon..
You know, putting it that way, this seems really odd. o-o
It doesn't seem odd at all. I can relate, a little bit. I've never put my feelings for my mother's cat into a character, but he was living with us since before I was born, and I grew up with him. The older brother I never had, really. He got a little more affectionate with age as well, though the only thing that seemed wrong with him was that his hips were arthritic. I'm glad your cat is reaching that sense of zen ( I don't think Ashley did- he was too Ashley for it. xD ) and I hope he dies peacefully when the time comes. D: Ashley only looked asleep when we found him. ><
(and since I figure I should talk about the art too... xD ) The picture itself is lovely, and really communicates the peacefulness you spoke about. And the expression is wonderful. x3
