"Rest in Peace"


Even though he isn't currently passed on, my dad will be calling the Humane Society tomarrow to find out about putting my beloved 16/17 year old cat Topaz (He was about four when we got him) to sleep. He has gone blind and refuses to eat and drink. I believe he only holds on because he doesn't want me to be alone with the Dog (Valkyrie. I love her to bits, but she basicly ignores me. Daddies little girl, she is).

I really don't want to, but he has bone spurs in his joints and can barely move. His hearing is dimming and his sight has left him.. Valkyrie doesn't seem to understand whats happening to him and keeps nudging him, so I've been having to keep him locked in one room, and her out in the main area of the house.

It wounds my heart.

Thankfully, because I care for him, I will allow him to go in peace and find rest... No matter how much it hurts for me to be losing my little feline "baby" brother.

This was actually based on a picture I took of him last week, so its an rather accurate portrait of him.

It's beautiful, much love and many condolences, it's hard to get over a loss, but sometimes you have to be the one to decide.

Awww... Poor Mindsend... Everyone knows how much it hurts to let a beloved pet go... But your doing it because you love him, remember that.

This is a beautiful picture, it shows a lot of detail! Great job!

Aw that's horrible D= Poor Topaz, I hope you'll be ok.

My cat was named Topaz... but the name didn't stick real well...

Anyways, this is a really lovely picture, It's nice to do things in memory of a pet!

ohhh, thats so sad :( I know its better for them to go rather than live in pain, but I always have such a hard time letting go ;_;

I'm sorry to hear that, Mindsend. ._. He seems like a wonderful cat, and I know how it feels to let go of animals you're so close with. They had to put my dog to sleep several years ago, and I couldn't even go to school. It might sound ridiculous, but I loved her a lot.

I respect it that you're agreeing to put him to sleep. Do remember it is for the best. :hug:

-pats- Yeah...Putting a beloved pet to rest is hard...Especially when you have had them for a long time,or a very short time. -sighs- Two of my ferrets had to be put asleep.The first one's heart was literally to big,and the other one had gotten crushed and got internal bleedin. -pats again- Losing animals has to be THE hardest thing in the world.But what is best for our pets when they are in pain or are suffering mentally is to let them go.A hard lesson in life that is....Knowing when to let go...Well...Rest in peace to your cat,Mind...
