Being old, blind, and slow was never a good quality in nature, and yet Alohuaki the Spirit Treader was given plenty of room and respect from the preditors of the Merdrac realm. Her eyes may be uncapable of regular sight, but with her ability to see auras and echolocation, she still could tell if you were coming to attack, and with those quick poisonous darts it was more likely you'd end up being adinner for bottom feeders if you try to attack the Orca sized dragon.

Plus, it was better to go to her to be healed during her outings from her pod to meditate and do her cerimonies to keep the balance of nature. One rule of the animal kingdom, never attack something thats more useful alive.
